There has to be a first post, even for a sequel blog – so here goes.
My old blog is still at http://weblog.basturea.com; there’s a link to it in the right side menu. I still have to add the about page, the blogroll, the favicon, the Creative Commons license, and so on. They’ll be up in a couple of days.
A new blog? It feels strange. Let’s see what this change will bring :)

Nice new look, Constantin!
Posted 15 Feb 2005 at 4:58 am ¶Curious – what made you decide to switch to WordPress?
Neville, thank you for being the first one to comment on my new blog :)
I switched because it was a pain to post in pMachine (even if I was using w.bloggar), dealing with spam was difficult, it didn’t had to many options for categories, and because its development was stopped recently…
The most simple solution would have been to move to Expression Engine (the new, smarter pMachine), but it’s not cheap. I don’t like hosted services too much, so Typepad was out. Same for Movable Type – I had a not-so-pleasant experience with it at the PR Blog Week 1.0.
WordPress looked like the perfect solution :)

Nice to see you again in this new house.
I’m sure your so many virtual friends will find here the same spirit and useful ideas.
I have had recently the same experience, moving my blog, choosing b2evolution.
Sincerely,

Best,

Great new blog! I, too, look forward to reading you more regularly.
I had the same problems with pMachine and Serendipity when starting out, that’s what lead me to WordPress. By the way, I see that this is 1.2.2. I like it, too. The pending release of 1.5 (Today!) will really spin people’s heads. It is much more powerful than previous versions. It is also considered stable now and good for production sites.
Great to see you in the new home. Best wishes! Take care.
Robert

WordPress 1.5 “Strayhorn”
Cool.
Posted 15 Feb 2005 at 1:45 pm ¶Carmen, thank you for your nice words. How do you like b2evolution?
Octavio, I promise to post more regularly! :)
Robert, thanks for letting me know about WordPress 1.5. I knew it was coming, but wasn’t sure about the timing. The upgrade is very simple, but there’s a new structure for the layout, so you will need to adapt your current design if you want to upgrade.

b2evolution and wordpress are very similar – see Blog Software Breakdown at http://www.asymptomatic.net/blogbreakdown.htm, and the discussion at http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/04/04/20/2223203.shtml?tid=215.
The decision to install b2evolution instead of wordpress was b2evolution multi-blog facility; I need some sub-blogs for my online courses and an online community.
How do you find the process of starting this new blog? You have to promote, to submit it to specific directories.
I ask this because starting a new one, I moved (almost all) the content too. It’s true that the old one was hosted on other site.
My best,
